Universal foam admixing system for fire-fighting vehicles FACS

The FACS control system represents universal foam admixing system that is intended for stationary and mobile fire-fighting vehicles.

The FACS control system is fully modular and can be modified or extended according to customer requirements.

FACS control system consists of three main units:

• central control unit FCU
• multifunctional display module MFD
• throttle valve with stepping motor

Individual units in FACS control system are interconnected through industrial bus CAN (Controller Area Network) with higher layer protocol (HLP) CANaerospace.

FCU and MFD units allow operational parameters recording and their archiving on PC through the serial communication port RS-232C. Each unit is also equipped with autodiagnostic functions to prevent emergency or error conditions.

Individual unit description

Multifunctional display FACS-MFD

The FACS-MFD unit displays operational parameters, such as:

• percentage of admixing foam
• water and admixing foam flow
• water turret position (in cooperation with WTCS control system)

The FACS-MFD unit allows archiving parameters of fire-fighting actions (maximum 100 records).

Central admixing foam control unit FACS-FCU

The FACS-FCU control unit measures water and admixing foam flow and on the basis of desired ration controls a throttle valve that regulates amount of foam admixed with water.

Admixing ratio can be set from 0.1 up to 99.9%.

Throttle valve with stepping motor unit FACS-TVC

The FACS-TVC unit regulates by the means of throttle valve amount of foam that is admixed with water. Throttle valve mechanism is self-locking, closing position is indicated by a position sensor. For emergency cases hand control of throttle valve is still possible.
